Report: Former Penn Coach Jerome Allen To Join Celtics

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- According to a report from City of Basketball Loveformer University of Pennsylvania Head Basketball Coach Jerome Allen will join the coaching staff of the Boston Celtics for the upcoming season.

Allen is expected to join Brad Stevens staff and serve as Associate Head Coach.

Following a 9-19 season, Allen stepped down from the Quakers program that he starred for as a player. Allen led Penn to three straight Ivy League Titles from 1993-95 and was Ivy League Player of the Year in 1992 and 1993.

The Philadelphia native was a second round selection in the 2nd round of the NBA Draft in 1995. Allen played for the Timberwolves, Pacers and Nuggets from 1995-97 before going overseas where he played until 2009.

Allen was inducted into the Big 5 Hall of Fame in 2009.

Allen joins a Celtics team that went 40-42 last season and lost in the first round of the NBA Playoffs to the Cleveland Cavaliers. This will be Allen's first time coaching in the NBA.
