PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — A Philadelphia police officer has been arrested and charged in connection with an assault on his girlfriend last month.

Forty-one-year-old officer Michael Alice is charged with assault, unlawful restraint, reckless endangerment, false imprisonment and violating a protection from abuse order.

He’s accused of assaulting his girlfriend in their home late last month. Police issued an arrest warrant, and Alice turned himself in Thursday.

Alice is a 12-year veteran of the department.

He has been suspended with intent to dismiss.
