Tall Ships 2015: Gazela
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The hometown favorite is the Gazela. Since the early 70's she has flown the flag of Philadelphia as the city's entry in the world of tall ships.
Independence Seaport Museum President John Brady notes Gazela, with a combination of square and schooner rigged sails, began life 114 years ago as a Portuguese Cod fishing vessel.
"Gazela is in every way the real deal," Brady explained. "She's an amazingly constructed wooden ship."
When the vessel is not cruising, she's found at Penn's landing.
The Tall Ships Festival will take place on the Delaware River between Philadelphia and Camden from June 25-28.
