Authorities Seize $3.3 Million In Heroin In Philadelphia

By Robin Culverwell

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Philadelphia District Attorney Seth Williams was flanked by members of the Drug Enforcement Agency and Philadelphia Police as he announced a $3.3 million heroin bust made at the end of April.

District Attorney Seth Williams says they'll keep making arrests because heroin is so devastating - there's a toll you don't often hear about.

"The loss of jobs, increase in crime, danger to friends and neighbors, domestic abuse, violence, treatment, and the pain that comes with the loss of loved ones who die as a result of overdose ... die as a result of trafficking narcotics and being murdered."

The three suspects are Philadelphia men now jailed on drug and money laundering charges and investigators seized more than $3 million worth of heroin bound for the streets.

Williams says it's the city's biggest drug bust in 20 years.
