NBA Finals: Money Being Placed On Underdog Cavs

By Andrew Porter

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Golden State Warriors won 67 games in the regular season, becoming just one of only 10 teams in NBA history to do so. They ranked first in defensive efficiency, second in offensive efficiency, and first in pace factor. That hasn't been done in 37 years.

They beat opponents by 10.1 points per game during the regular. Of the last seven teams to finish a season with a double-digit point differential, six have won the championship.

The Warriors, according to Bovada LV, are -200 to beat the Cavaliers in the 2015 NBA Finals (which begins on Thursday night). And they have the MVP of the league, in Stephen Curry.

However, everyone is betting on LeBron James and the Cavs.

According to ESPN.com, 80-percent of the money at the Westgate Supersbook is on the Cavs. William Hill, the Wynn, and the MGM sportsbook all indicate the action is heavy towards Cleveland.

"There are big bets on both sides, but more of them on Cleveland," John Avello, executive director of the Wynn sportsbook said. "That's because you're getting the best player in the world [James] at a plus."

"It's been a steady stream of Cleveland money," Craig Barmazel of the MGM Mirage said.

Golden State opened at -270 favorites.
