Peter King Ranks Eagles 7th In NFL, Cowboys 13th

By Andrew Porter

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Nothing says June 1st like a brand new, polarizing 2015 NFL power rankings column by Sports Illustrated's Peter King.

With free-agency and the draft in the rear-view mirror, King released his first official rankings of all 32 NFL teams. There were some significant surprises in the rankings list---the Vikings ranked No. 6, both the Dolphins and Bills outside the top 15, and the Ravens as the No. 1 team in football.

Cowboys fans were probably shocked to find their team ranked six slots behind their NFC East foe, the Eagles.

"Mike Trout says: In Chip We Trust. For the Eagles to be seventh in the NFL, he's going to have to say: In Sam Bradford We Trust," King said, ranking the Eagles as the seventh best NFL team.

"I keep reading how many great pieces the Cowboys have added to their defense," King wrote, ranking Dallas 13th. "I don't see it. But they're going to win a bunch of 33-27 games, so there's hope."

The Ravens, Seahawks, Packers, Chiefs, and Patriots were the top-five teams on the list. However, King basically admitted the science and accuracy in a rankings list is based tremendously on luck (that's the beauty of sports), quoting none-other than Eagles' coach Chip Kelly.

"So let the silly season begin," King wrote before displaying his rankings. "Let's rank the teams, 1 to 32. Let's see how wrong I can be so long before the NFL's 96th season."
