Upper Darby Police Searching For Missing Mentally Challenged Man

UPPER DARBY, Pa. (CBS) – Upper Darby Police are searching for a 20-year-old mentally challenged man who has been missing since Wednesday.

Police say Rasheed Young was last seen at 7:40 p.m. on May 6th. Witnesses say they saw him getting into an orange or red Nissan SUV at the McDonald's on 69th Street near Chestnut Street.

"We are trying to find the vehicle he was last seen getting into," says Superintendent Michael Chitwood.

Shortly after, his cell phone was found on the side of the road at 60th and Market Streets. He has not been seen or heard from since.

Young reportedly left his home on the 700 block of Westwood Lane in Aldon, Delaware County with a friend to walk his dog. He told the friend he would be right back and never returned. He was reported missing on Thursday.

Police describe Young as a black male, around 5'8, 130-140 pounds in good physical shape. His family says he is a nice, young man who can take care of himself, but only to a certain point.

"He has been the ideal child," says Young's foster mother of almost two years Cathy Zoretich. "He is just great."

Police say while they aren't sure foul play is involved, they aren't ruling anything out.

Anyone with information is asked to call Upper Darby Police at (610) 734-7684.
