Weather: Another Big Warm-Up Is On The Way

By Kate Bilo

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- After a brief dip in the mercury today, the heat is back starting Thursday - and by the weekend, it's going to feel like mid-summer here in Philadelphia!

After the skies clear tonight, high pressure begins to build back in for the end of the week and into the weekend. That's great news for us, because there's a potential tropical system brewing off the coast of the Carolinas! Were it not for the high in place, that storm might have come north, but it looks as though it will stay largely stationary into the weekend. May tropical systems aren't unheard of, but it certainly is early in the month for it! The last time a named system formed in May was Tropical Storm Arthur on May 30, 2008. We'll let you know if this low develops into a tropical system.

In our area, a sea breeze will keep things cooler along the coast this weekend but inland, we're looking at low 80's Thursday and Friday, and mid 80's over the weekend, with dewpoints reaching into the 60's. That means it will feel a lot more humid - much more like July than May for your Mother's Day plans!
