Police say three men were injured in a shootout overnight, and one of them has died. The two surviving men are still in the hospital, and police say they are being treated as suspects at this point.

Police say the shootout started just after 12:30 Wednesday morning on the 3100 block of North 6th Street. Officers on routine patrol heard the gunshots and found three injured men when they arrived on the scene.

Police say a man in his 20s was shot multiple times in the head and body. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.  A 22-year-old and a 23-year-old were also shot. Both were taken to Temple Hospital where they remain in stable condition this morning.

Police recovered three guns from the scene. Two of them were found under a van and one was found in a recycling bin.

There are businesses in the area, and police are hoping they have surveillance video that captured the shooting.

“We know that a lot of shots were fired from several caliber weapons,” says Chief Inspector Scott Small. “We found 32 shell casings, and we don’t believe we’re done counting the shell casings, we believe we’re going to find more. Both of these victims that are alive are being held as suspects, just due to the fact that we found three weapons on the scene. There is a possibility that our victims, all three of these victims, may have been in possession of one of these weapons.”
