DAVIS, CA (CBS) – A new study has some scary information about sugary drinks and heart disease.
The research, from the University of California – Davis, looked at 85 healthy patients of both sexes between the ages of 18 and 40. Some were given drinks with high fructose corn syrup while others drank sugar-free drinks.
After just two weeks, those consuming the drinks with the high fructose corn syrup had significantly increased heart disease risk factors like lipoproteins, uric acid and triglycerides.
The study’s results will be published in the June 2015 issue of the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition.
