Police Open Fire, Chase Armed Suspect In North Philly

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Authorities say Philadelphia Police drew their weapons and fired a round at a suspect allegedly carrying a shotgun overnight, then chased the suspect on foot in North Philadelphia.

This began around 1 a.m. on the 3000 block of North 22nd Street near Indiana Avenue.

Civilians reportedly flagged police officers down when they saw the suspect with the gun. Upon arrival, police ordered the suspect to drop his weapon. He then reportedly raised his shotgun, which led to one officer firing, but not striking the suspect.

Officials then say the suspect fled to Dougies Cafe, where he ran into a bathroom and removed his shows and hoodie. He then left the bar and was captured a short time later.

The suspect never fired at police.

This happened close to the scene where Officer Robert Wilson III was shot and killed earlier this month.
