Weather: More Record Cold For Delaware Valley

By Geoff Bansen

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --- In what is now a record setting month for much of the region, 5 new daily record lows fell this morning.

Philadelphia is now 9.2° below average for February - a number that is sure to fall even further by the end of the week - which puts it into the top 5 coldest Februaries of record. Except for a quick surge into the 30s on Wednesday, highs will remain in the 20s.

Despite the continued bitter cold temperatures. we are at least looking at fairly dry week to wrap up the month. An offshore storm will pass to the south on Thursday, with the northern edge perhaps nudging far enough north to bring some light snow to the immediate coast.

The next chance of widespread precipitation will be late Sunday into Monday, but looks to be in the form of rain. Just in time for the beginning of meteorological spring!

Which, by the way, you are all welcomed to adopt as your new first day of spring!
