Holiday Travelers Face Heavy Rain, Flood Advisory

TRENTON, N.J. (AP) — Christmas Eve travelers are contending with rain, fog and likely flooding across New Jersey.

A coastal flood advisory is in effect until 1 p.m. along the entire coast with roadway flooding expected.

Rain and fog hampered visibility along the turnpike, but drivers say traffic was moving well despite the weather.

Travelers report there are fewer cars on the roads than expected.

Delays at Newark's Liberty International Airport were up to 30 minutes and increasing. And the Federal Aviation Administration says inbound flights at Philadelphia International Airport are being held up by about an hour.

The National Weather Service warns drivers not to drive through flood waters.

The agency also warns of areas of fog around northern New Jersey and says a few thunderstorms may occur later Wednesday as temperatures head toward 60.
