2 Police Officers Hospitalized Following Crash In Northeast Philadelphia

By Mike Dougherty

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Two Philadelphia police officers were hospitalized following a car accident early Sunday morning.

Authorities say the officers were in their squad car, responding to a call with the lights on and sirens blaring when they were struck by another vehicle traveling westbound on Frankford Avenue.

It happened shortly after 3 a.m. near Sellers Street.

Both officers were taken to Temple Hospital with neck and back injuries, and both were expected to be treated and released.

It's unclear what led up to the accident and there's no word yet on if charges will be filed against the other driver.

The officers names were not released.
