Police: NJ Carjacking Suspect Asks Driver: 'Do You Want To Die Today?'

WESTAMPTON, NJ (CBS) – A New Jersey man is in custody after a multi-state police pursuit Thursday evening.

Police say just before 5 p.m., Trent S. Talley, 29, approached a medical transport vehicle and threatened the driver saying, "Do you want to die today?"

Authorities say Talley then forcibly entered the vehicle and took off driving through the townships of Westampton, Burlington, Florence and Bordentown using 295 North.

Talley then drove onto the New Jersey Turnpike and fled from police. He continued to elude officers and drove southbound on the Turnpike into Delaware.

The pursuit continued by Delaware State Police into Maryland.

Maryland State Police were eventually able to apprehend the suspect near the Fort McHenry Tunnel by using sticks and a rolling roadblock.

Authorities say Talley was taken into custody and charged additionally with out-of-state violations.

Westampton Township Police charged Talley with carjacking, theft of a motor vehicle, theft of property and terroristic threats.

His bail was set at $200,000 and he will be extradited once he faces the out-of-state charges.

No one sustained any injuries during the pursuit.
