A Facebook post coming from an account purportedly owned by Marykate Blankenburg, the Central Bucks High School West guidance counselor, went viral before yesterday’s Eagles’ game. The message read, “If my child cannot get to the Eagles game due to protesters, I will personally SHOOT every one of them. You’ve been warned idiots!!”
A statement from Central Bucks schools superintendent David Weitzel says the school district has begun an investigation, including verification of the source of the post, and will take appropriate action once it learns all the facts.
“I learned Sunday afternoon of a media posting of a threatening violent message allegedly written under the name of Marykate Blankenburg, a school guidance counselor at Central Bucks High School West. We immediately began an investigation including verification of the source of the post and we will take appropriate action once we learn of all the facts,” he said.
The counselor, a resident of Upper Gwynedd, has been suspended with pay. The school district also notified law enforcement officials and says it is working with them as they investigate this incident.READ MORE: Philadelphia Police: Man Shot Multiple Times, Killed Inside Kensington Convenience Store
Students are frustrated as this news hits just months after hazing allegations against the football team cancelled the football season.
“To see that she said something like that is really surprising,” said junior Olivia Hammond. “She’s done so much for this school and she helps me so much. She helps everyone with colleges and college essays and stuff.”
The Facebook profile of the woman claiming to be the guidance councilor has been deleted.
The private post was made public by “FanSince09,” a popular Twitter activist who refers to himself as “hero to some, villain to others,” and was also responsible for leading police to the alleged attackers of a gay couple in center city Philadelphia this past summer.MORE NEWS: No Cause Of Death Yet For COVID-Positive Student Who Died Unexpectedly, Camden County School Says
