Former Congressman: If Republicans Win The Senate, They Will Pass More Bills

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Dom Giordano talked to former Congressman Colonel Allen West on Talk Radio 1210 WPHT about the issues he thinks are important this Election Day.

West said that plenty is going wrong in Washington, to the detriment of the nation.

"We have an economy that is anemic. It is limping along, barely with an annual 2.2, 2.3 GDP growth. We have incredible problems with getting Americans back to work. Our unemployment rate is nowhere near 5.9%. We're printing money to exorbitant amounts, $60 to $85 billion, because we don't have a strong free-market economy. We have a government spending-driven economy. You look at what has happened with our foreign policy and national security. We're decimating our military."

He stated that if Republicans win the Senate, they will pass more bills and send them to President Obama.

"You will find out who the real obstructionist is. As a matter of fact, there are about 367 pieces of legislation sitting on Harry Reid's desk right now that have passed, bi-partisan, in the House. The most important thing is to get those pieces of legislation moving. I think one of the first votes in the first week of January 2015, if there is a Republican majority, should be a vote on the Keystone XL pipeline. That's a very easy one. Let's see what the President has to say. No more delaying."

West suggested that the President should be impeached if he issues an executive order on immigration reform.

"If he does that, he is in complete violation of the Constitution – much the same as the Dream Act, the executive order that he did because Article 1 Section 8 Clause 4 of the Constitution says that only the Congress can make rules and laws regarding naturalization, not the President."
