Corbett Concedes Pa. Governor's Race, Thanks Supporters

By Jim Melwert

PITTSBURGH, Pa. (CBS) -- It wasn't much of a party for Governor Corbett, his election headquarters had only a few hundred people in a small ballroom in a hotel in downtown Pittsburgh.

It was a party that never got off the ground, as several news outlets were projecting a loss for Governor Corbett, mere minutes after the polls closed.

That prompted the governor's wife Susan to take to the stage to try to rally the crowd, saying this isn't the first time her husband has been written off.

"So at 8:20 p.m., we're not really worried about this so you guys hang in."

But less than an hour and a half later Tom Corbett himself was on stage, saying his political ally, former Allegheny County exec Jim Roddy took the stage with a different history lesson, recounting a conversation the tow had when Corbett was first elected governor.

"Just a few minutes ago, I called Tom Wolf and I thanked him for a well fought race, I congratulated on his victory and I wished him well in the next four years."

Corbett says he's proud of all his administration did, and he says when history books are written they'll look positively at his administration.
