Female Claiming To Have Gun Robs 2 University Of Delaware Students

NEWARK, Del. (CBS) -- Police are searching for a female suspect who robbed two University of Delaware students.

The incident happened at about 6:45 p.m. Tuesday on East Main Street near Academy Street in Newark, Delaware.

According to the Newark Police Department, two female University of Delaware students were walking when they were approached by the female suspect.

Investigators say the suspect grabbed a pocketbook from one of the victims and began to run.

The two victims ran after the suspect. After the suspect realized there was no money in the purse, she told the victims she had a gun and demanded money.

One of the victims gave the suspect an undisclosed amount of money.

The suspect then ran away and several witnesses gave chase, but she was able to elude them.

The suspect is described as a white female, approximately 5'7", 25-35 years old, with light brown hair in a pony tail. She was wearing jeans and a black jacket.
