Montco Non-Profits Join Forces To Raise Funds

POTTSTOWN, Pa. (CBS) - Fifteen Montgomery County non-profits will pool their resources for the first time Friday with the hopes of hitting the fundraising jackpot.

The past few years have been tough for tiny non-profits to raise funds. So this year -- 15 non-profits based in Montgomery County have become part of a growing trend -- where non-profits join forces.

They're putting on their inaugural Celebrity Auction Friday with the hope that they'll raise enough dough to split 15 ways.

"Cuts in funding makes it all important for non-profits to come together, work together to achieve their goals,"
says Jen Doyle -- executive director of Tri County Community Network.

That group is organizing the event that will support non-profits, including Steele River Playhouse, TriCounty YWCA, Laurel House, Women's Center and many more.

"Our hope is we'll have a broader impact and we hope that by sharing the responsibility and the work, we have a larger return," says Doyle.

Celebrities to be auctioned include a former Eagles and former Steelers football players.

The event takes place at Sunnybrook Farms in Pottstown.
