Learn How To Garden In The Shade

By Phran Novelli

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - David Benner hasn't mowed his lawn in over 40 years. He doesn't fertilize, yet his yard is lush and green under shady trees. How'd he do that?

Come hear him tell you all about it when he talks about "Gardening in the Shade," on October 29th at Delaware Valley College in Doylestown. He'll explain how to create a landscape you don't have to fuss over anymore (like the one of his garden in the photo here), that virtually takes care of itself, and is deer-resistant too!

You've probably noticed, but grass doesn't want to grow under trees anyway. So why not enjoy beautiful green moss that doesn't need to be mowed instead, along with ground covers, perennials, and shade-loving shrubs. You'll save yourself time, money and frustration when you stop seeding, fertilizing, watering and mowing.

Learn all about it Wednesday, October 29th at 7:30 at the Life Sciences Building of Delaware Valley College.

Admission is $5.00, $3 for seniors, and free for students, Henry Schmieder Arboretum members and active military.
