Police Warn Residents Of Phone Scam Targeting Chester County

TREDYFFRIN TOWNSHIP, Pa. (CBS) – Police are warning residents in Chester County about an ongoing phone scam.

The scammer is targeting the 619 area code.

Police say the unknown caller has a Middle Eastern accent and claims to be from the U.S. Treasury Department before telling the victim he or she owes money.

While no residents have lost any money in to the scam thus far, officials are asking that anyone who receives a similar call hang up immediately and call police.
