PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Frances Egler, the director of Broadway Philadelphia programming and co-presentation at the Kimmel Center, shared a little background on the Broadway smash-hit musical, “Newsies,” which is coming to Philadelphia on Oct. 28th.

“It won best score and best choreography in 2012…and it just finished its run on Broadway in August,” she said. “It set several house records at the Nederlander Theatre up on Broadway.”

And Egler says there are differences between the movie and the play.

“They adapted it to add a little bit more of a love story. So one of the characters that was in the film who was a man is now a woman. There are more songs than were in the film, and the choreography is really front and center.”
