A Nice Start To The Week

By Geoff Bansen

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The beginning of the week is looking tranquil for a change!

Monday morning will start off cool and pleasant, warming up to around 70 by midday. Expect lots of sunshine and comfortable conditions. There's a slight chance of a passing shower later this afternoon from a weak disturbance moving down from Canada, but on the whole, this is a very nice day.

On Tuesday, the sun sticks around and we warm up into the upper 70s. A frontal boundary pushing eastward brings in a threat for showers and a thunderstorm later on Wednesday.

Once that clears out, Thursday and Friday look to feature a mix of sun and clouds. Right now, the holiday weekend isn't looking all that bad.

This week is also National Safe Boating Week!

Today In Weather History:

1988 -- Severe thunderstorms in southwest Texas produced hail as large as tennis balls around Midland, with the hail accumulating up to a foot deep. Showers and thunderstorms in the Middle Atlantic Coast Region produced 3.5 inches of rain near Schuylkill, PA.
