1 Injured, 4 Units Destroyed In Mercer County Apartment Complex Fire

EAST WINDSOR, N.J. (CBS) -- Eight units were either destroyed or damaged during a four-alarm fire at an apartment complex in Mercer County early Wednesday morning.

The fire was first reported at about 6:10 a.m. at the K Buildings at the Village East Apartments in the 600 block of Abbington Drive in East Windsor, New Jersey.

When firefighters arrived, they encountered four units of the eight unit K building engulfed in flames.

Firefighters were able to place the fire under control by about 7:20 a.m.

As a result of the fire, four units were completely destroyed and four sustained varying degrees of smoke and water damage.

A 92-year-old female resident suffered burns on one leg and was transported to CentraState Hospital.

The fire was determined to have originated in a bedroom of one of the units. The fire is being categorized as non-suspicious, but the exact cause could not be determined due to the extent of the damage.
