Local Group Of Officials To Hold Healthcare Sign Up Event

PHILADELPHIA (CBS)--A group of Philadelphia elected officials and non-profits have declared this "Affordable Care Act week" and they're kicking it off with a sign-up event at the Columbia North YMCA from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Congressman Chakkah Fattah and State Senator Vincent Hughes are teaming up with the Urban League and health care advocacy groups to try to get uninsured people to sign up for a health plan by the March 31st deadline.
Bill England is the Pennsylvania director for Enroll America. He says, "With time beginning to get short, we're reaching out far and wide to hit as much of the community as we can."
This week, federal officials said enrollment finally hit its stride in January, with a million people signing up through healthcare.gov but overall numbers are still low because of the botched roll out.
The events this week, with trained navigators answering questions and aiding sign up, are among the efforts to make up for lost time.
