Deadline Extended To Register For Broad Street Run

By Ian Bush

PHILADELPHIA (CBS)--Less than a week to go before registration closes for a chance at a spot in the Broad Street Run and so far, more than 23,000 people already have registered.

You have until the night of Saturday, Feb. 15 to put your name in the hat for one of the 37,000 or so bibs up for grabs.

The original deadline was Thursday, Feb. 13, but that was extended due to the number of power outages in the area following last week's storm.

"We'll announce the winners of the lottery on the 18th -- Tuesday the 18th, after the Presidents Weekend."

For the Sunday, May 4th race, director Jim Marino says, "The remaining bibs up to 40,000 go to the charities involved with the event, as well as people that have deferred from last year, and some of the teams that we have, and sponsors."

The Philadelphia Parks and Recreation Department is partnering with Independence Blue Cross for this 35th anniversary by which the snow and ice should have long since melted.
