Penn Blows Past NJIT 89-74

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Miles Jackson-Cartwright and Tony Hicks both scored 23 points as Pennsylvania blew past NJIT 89-74 in a non-conference game on Saturday night.

Jackson-Cartwright and Hicks were both 4 of 6 from long range while Darien Nelson-Henry had 10 points and 11 rebounds and Fran Dougherty scored 10 points with 10 rebounds for the Quakers.

Penn (4-11, 1-0 Ivy League) never trailed in the game, opening a 15-4 lead over NJIT in the first half on a Jackson-Cartwright 3-point play and extending the margin to 15 points by intermission, 47-32.

The Quakers scored just four points in the first 5:41 of the second half but NJIT (8-13) still couldn't get closer than 14 points in that stretch.

Penn was allowed 42 trips to the free throw line, landing 35 of those attempts.

Damon Lynn scored 25 points for NJIT.
