Chip Kelly: 'Nick Foles Is The Perfect Quarterback For Us'

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Chip Kelly couldn't have been more clear, the day after the Eagles beat the Cowboys to win the NFC East.

Nick Foles is the guy.

"To go through a season and you kind of sit back and look at what he's accomplished, he's just---well, you know, it's been a really, really good year. Not every play is going to be perfect for you, but he is the perfect quarterback for us," Kelly told Angelo Cataldi and the 94WIP Morning Show on Monday. Foles played another game without an interception, and added two touchdown passes. He ended the regular season with the highest QB rating in the league, and the third highest all time. "I think a couple plays we were trying to get to the ball down, maybe check it down, but he [Foles] still makes really, really good decisions."

"I could just tell from being on the field that we were wearing their defense down with our tempo and pace. Our group was starting to get stronger there in the fourth quarter, we felt like we were wearing them down."

To say the Eagles exceeded expectations this season would be an understatement. A rebuilding year became double-digit victories and a playoff berth.

"I said last night and I told the players in the first meeting we had in April, I felt just a vibe and a mindset that they were willing to win and they were willing to do whatever it takes to win. There's a really unique chemistry and attitude on this football team. We've been around it and so I think we understand and know what they're capable of doing, but you still have to go out and do it on the field on every Sunday. It's been interesting to see how the season has unfolded, but you just can't take it away from them in terms of what they have accomplished so far, because I still think we got a lot of football in us," Kelly said.

The Eagles face the New Orleans Saints on Saturday night. "[We're] getting ready to play a real good New Orleans team. The great thing for us is that we're home, in front of our home fans and it should be rockin' on Saturday."
