NORRISTOWN, Pa. (CBS) — Police are searching for a gunman who shot a man, rammed a police cruiser and led officers on a chase in Norristown overnight.

Police say officers responding to a 911 call for shots fired were arriving on scene when their police cruiser was struck by a black Volkswagen Passat.
Witnesses tell police that the suspect driver struck two other cars before abandoning his vehicle and fleeing on foot into the woods.READ MORE: Philadelphia Weather: Stormy Evening Brings In Seasonal Temperatures For Early Next Week
The victim was found with a gunshot wound to the head and was taken to to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in unknown condition.
The suspect’s car was found in nearby parking lot.
