'Sandy Service Days' To Observe First Anniversary

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Two organizations are partnering for 'Sandy Service Days' in New Jersey to commemorate the first anniversary of Hurricane Sandy.

The Hurricane Sandy New Jersey Relief Fund and Jersey Cares say they are looking for 5,000 volunteers to participate in two days of service on Saturday, October 26th and Tuesday, October 29th in highly impacted communities in Atlantic, Bergen, Hudson, Monmouth and Ocean counties.

"We hope many will join us to continue the spirit of compassion and service that united all of us one-year ago," First Lady Mary Pat Christie, Chair of the Hurricane Sandy New Jersey Relief Fund said in a release. "The Garden State has made great strides to rebuild, but there are many in need of a helping hand and this effort seeks to provide that as we remember Hurricane Sandy and look toward the future."
