Bridal Gowns To Go On Sale In Center City To Help Breast Cancer Patients

By Michelle Durham

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Hundreds of bridal gowns were being set up in a center city hotel ballroom today in preparation for tomorrow's "Brides Against Breast Cancer" event.

The beautiful dresses, veils, and wedding jewelry are being sold at Le Méridien Hotel to further the fight against breast cancer.

"We'll have about 800 designer and couture wedding gowns that we are discounting between 25 and 85 percent off the retail price," says Amy Paulishak, senior vice president of Brides Against Breast Cancer.  "Nearly 80 cents of every dollar goes directly back to program. We fund programs like counseling, nutrition, (and) exercise classes that help cancer patients."

Aspiring wedding planner Ryanne Baker was volunteering at the event in memory of her grandmother, Marilyn Baker.  Ryanne says there's no doubt her grandmother would have loved this event.

"No doubt! She was an amazing woman.  She always had all of her rings, she always had her nails done, she always looked nice."

Brides who have already said their "I do's" can donate their gowns, veils, and accessories.   For more information go to
bridesabc.org or call 877-721-4673.
