EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. (CBS) — With cooler weather on the horizon, maybe it’s time for another Poconos golf getaway!
Comfortable days, amazing scenery, and constantly changing course terrain are the hallmarks of post-Labor Day golf in the nearby Pocono Mountains.
I had a chance to play and chat with Scott Matthews during a recent visit to the Fernwood Resort, in East Stroudsburg. He’s the golf pro here, and he’s quick to point out uniquely eye-filling challenge that draws mid-Atlantic golfers.
“Here you have more different lies,” he notes. “We have elevated greens. We have valley shots.”READ MORE: Jordan Burnham Turns Suicide Attempt Into Years Of Advocacy As Teens Face Epidemic Of Depression
Not to mention the natural fixtures that offer a sense of euphoria in a Pocono glade, or firing across a rapidly flowing stream (below).
“First time I was ever here was the first time I saw a bald eagle,” Matthews recalls.
The wildlife, the solitude, and fall pricing for stay-and-play packages make Poconos golf an ideal September getaway. If you can make it mid-week, even better.Citizens Crime Commission Honors Yardley Police Chief Shot On Duty, Philly Teen Who Stood Up To Bullies
