For some, it means heading to the mall. If you plan on doing some shopping this month, you want be sure to get the best deals.

Even if you’re writing out your shopping list while sitting on the beach, there are still clear lines in the sand on what to buy now and what to buy later.

When the retail shopping experts at examined August pricing trends, one thing was for certain: Now is when stores aggressively lower summer clothing prices.

“Typically retailers are taking somewhere between 40 and 70 percent off this time of year; they really want to get summer apparel out of their stores,” said editor, Lindsay Sakraida.

If you’re looking to snag a deal on swimwear, “you can typically find about 60 percent off swimwear in August,” said Sakraida.

Just don’t wait too long to shop.

“We really see sales on swimwear drop off after August,” said Sakraida.

Grills deals are red hot this month, too.

“A lot of stores are looking to clear out their stock. [Grills are] big bulky items, so they really want to get rid of these items now,” said Sakraida.

Expect to find discounts of around $200 off a mid-priced gas grill.

“Look for these deals at Lowes, Home Depot, Sears, and other department stores,” advised Sakraida.

And if you’re in the market for electronics, prices for 55-inch big screen, 3D HDTVs are hitting rock bottom.

“3D is hitting some all time lows. We’ve been seeing them come in as low as $549, which is extremely cheap for something high-tech like that,” explained Sakraida.

By the way, patio furniture deals are popping up, too. Some of the best deals arrive at the end of the month.

As for holding off purchases, for the past two years Amazon has debuted a Kindle Fire tablet in September. says hold off for now. You may be able to get a new model for roughly the same price, and it’s worth it to wait and see.
