Worker Strikes Gas Main At West Chester University; Evacuations Ordered

WEST CHESTER, Pa. (CBS) – Several buildings on the campus of West Chester University were evacuated Tuesday afternoon after a worker struck a gas main.

The incident happened shortly before noon in the 100 block of West Rosedale near Killinger Hall.

Authorities say a worker struck a one-inch gas line. As a precaution, Killinger, Allegheny and Schmucker Halls were evacuated.

Crews were called to the scene to turn off the gas main.

There were no reports of any injuries.

The incident remains under investigation.
