South Jersey Couple Claims $30M Mega Millions Jackpot

TRENTON, N.J. (AP) — A southern New Jersey couple has claimed a $30 million Mega Millions jackpot.

NJ Lottery Executive Director Carole Hedinger announced Wednesday that Darryl and Judith Smith held the sole winning ticket for the May 31 drawing. She said Darryl Smith bought the ticket at the Vineland Truck Stop in Buena, which earned a $30,000 bonus for selling it.

In a statement issued by the lottery, the Smiths' asked for privacy.

"We are thankful for the blessing and the opportunities that it opens up for us," Judith Smith said in the statement.
