Elderly NJ Man Sentenced On Child Porn Charges
NEWARK, N.J. (AP) — An elderly New Jersey man who admitted downloading numerous child porn images and videos has been sentenced to five years in prison.
Federal prosecutors say 81-year-old Joseph Amari of Fair Lawn also must serve five years of supervised release once he's released from prison.
Amarei is currently serving a state prison sentence for unrelated child endangerment charges, and his federal sentence will run concurrently with that term. The state also required Amari to register as a sex offender.
Amari had pleaded guilty in March to a complaint charging him with receipt of child pornography. He had admitted that he used peer-to-peer file-sharing software to download the images and videos in February 2007.
