PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – A Philadelphia Flyers icon is coming home.

The Flyers named former goalie Ron Hextall their Assistant General Manager and Director of Hockey Operations.

“We are very pleased to welcome back Ron Hextall to our management team,” general manager Paul Holmgren said in a press release. “Ron has a wealth of experience in the front office in various capacities which will be a valuable addition to our staff.”

Hextall comes to the Flyers from the Los Angeles Kings, where he served as Assistant GM and Vice President.

Hextall, 49 years old, spent 11 of his 13 seasons as a player with the Flyers.
