New Tour Lets Miss America Pageant Fans Relive Pageant History In AC

By David Madden

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (CBS) - The Miss America pageant will rule the roost in Atlantic City after a seven year absence in September.

But for those who just can't wait, you can get your fix on the pageant's history with a self guided walking tour.

Start in the lobby of the Sheraton Convention Center where eight gowns are on display, along with the tiara and scepter that goes with the title. Then, it's out to the Tanger Outlets.

"We have the Rose Walk which is located on Michigan Avenue, which is right in our center and was designed by the CRDA back in 1997," says spokeswoman Donna Danielson.

The Casino Reinvestment Development Authority placed bronze plaques honoring each winner between Arctic and Atlantic Avenue.

You complete the tour at Boardwalk Hall, where the pageant will be held.

A video booth's been set up to allow you up to three minutes to record your personal Miss America memories. The free event is running now although the official unveiling is scheduled for Thursday.
