Former US Rep. Marjorie Margolies Enters Race For 13th District Seat

By Brad Segall

NORRISTOWN, Pa. (CBS) -- It's been two decades since Marjorie Margolies cast a ballot on the floor of the US House, but she's hoping to get that opportunity once again.

In the early '90s she was Marjorie Margolies-Mezvinsky.  Now, twenty years later, the Mezvinsky is gone but the 70-year-old former broadcaster is taking another shot at Congress.

She's filed the paperwork to enter the Democratic race for the 13th Congressional District, which covers large chunks of Montgomery County and Philadelphia.

Margolies says she would bring a different voice to Congress.

"I'm a mother and a grandmother, and the issues that were important to me when I first ran and went to Congress are very much the same," she tells KYW Newsradio.

She becomes the fourth person to toss her hat into the ring in that race.  The others are state representative Brendan Boyle, state senator Daylin Leach, and Dr. Valerie Arkush.

The primary is still about a year away, but Margolies could have an advantage: the Clinton family.  Her son is married to Chelsea.
