4 Hospitalized In Ambulance-Involved Crash In Blackwood

BLACKWOOD, N.J., (CBS) – Four people were hospitalized after an ambulance taking a patient to the hospital was involved in a crash Thursday night.

The incident happened at about 7:28 p.m. at the 800 block of Davistown Road in Blackwood, New Jersey.

Chopper 3 HD was over the scene as crews responded.

Gloucester Township Police say the vehicle was exiting a driveway and entered the roadway in front of the Gloucester Township E.M.S. Ambulance, causing the ambulance to strike the vehicle.  The vehicle overturned.

Police say the ambulance was transporting a patient to a local hospital at the time of the crash, but the patient was not injured in the crash.

According to authorities, the three E.M.S. personnel in the ambulance and the driver of the vehicle were transported to local hospitals with minor injuries.

The crash remains under investigation by Gloucester Township Police.

No charges have been filed at this time.
