Lorenzo's Celebrates Grand Reopening After Fire Damaged Pizza Shop

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - A South Street staple is serving up slices once again, nearly one year after a fire damaged the popular pizza shop. KYW's Tim Jimenez reports.

A line formed here outside of Lorenzo's at 3rd and South, close to an hour before its 11 a.m. grand reopening.

"Love this pizza. Pizza's great, been eating it for years," said Earl who says he went to Lorenzo's twice a week before a serious fire damaged the shop last June.

After nearly a year, Earl says on this day, one when he skipped breakfast, there's no better way to feed the family.

"A whole pie, can't just do a slice! Ain't going to happen!"

So what makes a slice at Lorenzo's so good. Devon, a self-proclaimed pizza addict explains.

"The simplicity. The fact that they just concentrate on having the best plain slice of pizza and they're open late. Plenty of times I've gone to shows at the TLA, just coming over here for a slice of pizza afterwards. It's great," said Devon.

The store plans on donating half of their profits on this first day back to Philabundance.
