QB EJ Manuel Says He 'Killed It' In Eagles Workout

By Spike Eskin

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – While most of the talk in Philadelphia about a potential future quarterback for the Eagles has been about West Virginia's Geno Smith, believe it or not, he's not the only QB available this year.

In fact, there are several places where Geno Smith not the top-rated quarterback in the 2013 NFL Draft. National Football Post has Smith ranked 5th, with Syracuse's Ryan Nassib at the top spot.

Another quarterback who has been mentioned as a possible fit for the Eagles is Florida State's EJ Manuel. Manuel is ranked as the third best QB in the draft by National Football post, also ahead of Smith. Manuel has the athleticism that Chip Kelly's system demands, as well as the size (6'5", 240 pounds) to compete in the NFL.

Manuel worked out for the Eagles this week, and Manuel thinks it went well.

"I killed it," in a draft diary that Manuel did for Birds 24/7. "The ball came out of my hand great. Weather was chilly so it gave a realistic feel of how it'll be in the fall in Philly. Coach [Eagles QB coach Bill Lazor] gave me a few things to try out and I was able to perform those techniques after he gave his initial instruction. Overall, coach left with a great impression. The ball may have touched the grass once. I really liked Coach Lazor. I think I will have a lot of success learning and working with him and within the Eagles offensive system!"

Manuel mentioned he has workouts planned with the Cleveland Browns and the Cincinnati Bengals.
