One Arrested After Several Dogs, Drugs And Stolen Goods Found Inside Germantown Home

By Todd Quinones

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Police in Philadelphia are investigating an apparent dog-fighting ring in the Germantown neighborhood of the city.

Police were first called to 6335 Norwood Street in Germantown on Tuesday afternoon for reports of a gunshot that was unfounded. However, police were told by a woman inside a nearby home about the dogs, the drugs and the motorcycle.

Investigators then made a bloody discovery on the second floor of the vacant house next door -- a vacant room where the dogs were allegedly fighting. One dog removed from the home had open wounds to its chest, though the six other dogs taken by authorities did not appear to have obvious injuries.

Investigators also say that drugs and a stolen motorcycle were found at the home.

One person was taken into custody and is expected to be charged accordingly.
