Man Gets 15 To 30 Years For 2010 Murder In Northeast Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — A man has been sentenced to 15 to 30 years in the strangulation death of a woman in a northeast Philadelphia apartment more than two years ago.

Forty-one-year-old William Walton pleaded guilty earlier this month to voluntary manslaughter and a drug charge in the death of 22-year-old Allison Edwards, who was found strangled in a building in the Juniata Park section of the city in December 2010.

Walton was sentenced Monday to 10 to 20 years on the manslaughter charge and five to 10 years on the drug count to be served after the first sentence.

Police originally thought the case might be related to the deaths of several women found sexually assaulted and strangled in nearby Kensington, but they later ruled out any link.
