Bynum Will Undergo Season-ending Surgery

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Philadelphia 76ers center Andrew Bynum will undergo surgery on Tuesday, causing him to miss the remainder of the season.

"After many months of rehabilitation and consulting with numerous doctors, Andrew and the doctors treating him determined that this is the best course of action at this point," Sixers General Manager Tony DiLeo said in a press release. "We will continue to monitor and evaluate his status moving forward."

The surgery will be performed by Dr. David Altchek of the Hospital of Special Surgery in New York.

The team says it will provide an update following the surgery.
