Officer Injured In Head On Collision With Alleged Drunk Driver

WILLINGBORO, N.J. (CBS) – Officials say a police officer was injured after a head on collision with an intoxicated driver in Burlington County.

The incident occurred on Garfield Drive near Edison Lane in Willingboro, New Jersey around 7:18 p.m. on Tuesday.

Police say 43-year-old Paul Johnson Jr., of Willingboro, was headed southbound on Garfield Drive in a 2012 Honda Civic when he crossed over the double yellow line and hit Officer Jaime Jimenez's patrol vehicle head on.

Officer Jimenez was transported to Virtua Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening, upper body injuries and Johnson was taken to Lourdes Hospital for precautionary reasons.

Both have been released from the hospital.

Johnson was charged with driving while intoxicated, failure to maintain lane, driving while suspended and related charged.
