Tumblr, Snap-Chat More Popular With Teens, Young Adults Than Facebook

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Is Facebook starting to show its age? A recent survey says the social site Tumblr is used the most by teens and young adults.
Founded in 2007, the imaged-based site Tumblr hosts over 89 million blogs and 40 billion posts. A new Survata survey surprised the social networking world by documenting the rapid growth of Tumblr and Snapchat.
"Sixty percent of teens from 13-18 see Tumblr as their primary social network but the second most surprising thing about the survey was about 15% of 13-18-year-olds were using Snapchat on a regular basis and that's a brand new app, no one was talking about it a couple of months ago," according to John Herrman, the deputy tech editor at the social news organization Buzzfeed.
High School student Khadija Tudiallo says Instagram is her favorite social site. According to this study, teens outnumber adults there almost two to one. But when asked about Facebook, she said, "It's still popular now but I don't get on it as much as I used to."
