Reading Woman Accused Of Leaving Kids Home Alone With Loaded Gun, Drugs
READING, Pa. (AP) — Police are searching for a woman who stands accused of leaving three children alone in an apartment near a loaded gun and drugs.
Reading police found the children on Tuesday when they raided a suspected drug house after getting complaints from neighbors.
They were looking for 34-year-old Jessica Torres. She remains at large.
Investigators say in the bedroom, they found a large amount of cocaine and a loaded pistol with an obliterated serial number. That's where they also found three unattended children between 8 months and 6 years old.
Police say the gun was under a mattress where two kids were sleeping.
The children were placed in the custody of Berks County Children and Youth Services.
