Home Of Suspect In City's 1st 2013 Murder Catches Fire

By Kim Glovas

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Philadelphia police have arrested an 18-year-old West Philadelphia man in connection with the New Year's Day shooting of a 16-year-old neighbor.

Police arrested Kamonne Jordan of the 5600 block of Carpenter Street on Wednesday. He is charged with murder and related offenses after the death of Jaymire Rustin, who lived in the same block. Rustin was the city's first murder victim of the New Year.

The shooting was reportedly the result of an argument outside of the victim's home.

The house where Jordan lived was the scene of a fire early Thursday morning. A 70-year-old woman was hospitalized for smoke inhalation from the fire.

Police said that they didn't know if the fire had anything to do with Jordan's alleged involvement in the New Year's homicide.
